Our showroom team has collected the top tile trends set to take over in 2023 which should seriously be considered when designing spaces this year. Architecture and interior design has taken a shift towards warm and earthy tones, creating inviting and comforting atmospheres. After years of isolation and uncertainty, people have naturally turned to this emotional response in their homes as a place of security and solace. This overall movement is seeing a resurgence of mid-century modern architecture, sun baked mediterranean textures, warm saturated hues and the exposure of natural earthy materials.
For anyone looking to refresh old interiors or start a new build with the latest design trends in tow, this is your one-stop shop to our new collections of tiles sure to inject a wave of the 2023 warmth into your space.
Mid Century Modern
Clean strong lines with plenty of organic warmth and effortless comfort is what dominates mid century modern architecture. This style is all about marrying the interior with the exterior to create laid back, yet sophisticated living spaces.
In 2023, the simplicity of mid century modern architecture is influencing design decisions when it comes to furniture, materials and home layouts.
For natural pigments that highlight warmth in any space, we recommend opting for our stunning Terre Tiles. This collection is inspired by the architecture trends of Palm Springs with large scale tiles that feature two different finishes; one a sculptural surface resembling that of bricks and one smooth. When paired together these tiles create seamlessly balanced areas allowing you to create open and light areas in your home. Likewise, the Sixty collection takes cues from natural earth and clays and demonstrates a similar concept of pairing textures together. Sixty includes smaller subway tiles in a range of finishes and a larger format tile, when used together can achieve the mid century modern characteristic of inviting the outside in.
For another take on mid century modern design, the Limestone collection (coming soon) provides a natural and elegant texture that elevates your interior while retaining its comfortable feel - just the way Mid Century Designers intended.
Use any of these collections throughout main living areas, both inside and outside, to create a simple yet refined and timeless space that you can embellish with different textured furniture and finishes.
Mediterranean
The romantic aesthetics of the Mediterranean coast is continuing to inspire design choices in 2023. More specifically, trends seem to be developing out of Tuscany, where sun-baked terracotta tiles adorn almost every roof, and cypress pines and olive groves punctuate the scenery. The warmth of the region is reflected in the design elements themselves, where details are carefully etched into the cultural and architectural landscapes.
With the right tile selections, you can organically invoke the Tuscan style by opting for natural materials and patterns used in the region.
At Myaree Ceramics, we’ve carefully curated collections to celebrate the Mediterranean alongside other travel inspired tiles. For example, our new Mar series exemplifies the traditional Majolica-style of hand-painting - an ode to the craftsmanship and charm of the Tuscan region. Use Mar as a splashback, bathroom floor or even as a feature wall in the bedroom. We love pairing this collection with a stone-look tile to bring in the “Old World Europe” feeling to the rest of the space. Tuffeau Bianco is our choice for a clean and naturally veined stone look tile that can be used if steering away from patterned details, but still wanting to achieve the Tuscan palette.
Our team is also excited about the arrival of the clay-inspired Terracreta collection coming soon to our showroom. This range again sees the use of ancient craftsmanship techniques such as engraving and decoration which result in unique and striking surfaces. The primitive material evolves, lending itself to the creation of warm, cosy environments where you can always feel at home. Use the Terracreta range to create textured walls similar to those of Tuscan abodes.
For lovers of detailed tiles that reflect the Mediterranean sun and sea - our Marlow collection (coming soon) will feature a range of 115x115mm patterned tiles. They'll add oodles of charm and a touch of lightness and whimsy to any home, pool or garden.
Bold Colours
Bold colours will start to occupy more pockets in residential and commercial areas, with saturated hues, and the use of colour blocking and mosaics all arising from the recent maximalist movement. Smaller format tiles are also a great way to create geometric patterns for a feature wall and can combine to make a strong, bold statement piece.
For anyone interested in adding a vibrant techno-inspired feel, our Pixel collection offers smooth bold hues in a small square format, making it perfect for both feature areas or larger scales. We love the endless patterns and images you can make in a space when using a mixture of colours from the Pixel range. There are endless possibilities which our team is happy to illustrate for you!
For the ultimate statement piece, 3D tiles like the Costa Nova range (coming soon) create strong lines and contrast existing flat surfaces by adding a unique texture to your home.
Contemporary Stone Effects
The aesthetic of natural stone has seen a resurgence since the recent popularity of terrazzo. Stone look tiles add a lived in, sophisticated and warming atmosphere to the space. In 2023, stone effects will be one to watch, as it takes cues from fluid, natural, and environmental influences. Part of this approach is finding resourceful ways to achieve beauty and harmony via textured tiles, large format tiles and earthy tones.
We can’t help but admire the contemporary stone effects of the Venistone collection - a modern interpretation of the Venetian Breccia stone. Thanks to Nat-Plus Technology, Venistone tiles are soft to the touch when dry, and slip-resistant when wet. Bathroom trends are showing us that innovative tiles like these are increasing in demand because of their durability and ability to visually enlarge spaces due to joint lines becoming almost invisible.
This product can be cleverly used to tie indoor and outdoor spaces together, or as a timeless main floor option throughout the home. The chunky fragments of stone create a point of interest that is neither too much or too little. It is the perfect example of a contemporary stone effect look.
Likewise, the Sassiepietre collection (coming soon in 600x600mm and 600x1200mm) screams of natural stone luxury. It combines stone in a limestone-cement binder making for a unique finish in large spaces or bathrooms when marrying floors and walls. Sassiepietre brings elements of the natural environment to indoor areas, providing a comforting, warm and dreamy vibe.
